A few tips and tricks that have worked well for us…
Food
Off-the-beaten-path posts featuring drool-worthy food won’t disappoint. Go vibrant, and use slow-mo on the most indulgent moments (cheese pulls!). Fusion dishes are frequent hits.
Accommodation & activities
Brag-worthy lodging and extreme activities perform well. Open with a long establishing shot, then zoom out to a full 360 view. Add a photo album or slideshow to maximize interest and, well, envy.
Local guides
People hate tourist traps but trust a local expert. Show hidden-gem restaurants and lesser-known spots (like secret waterfalls).
YouTube
An immersive home for guided tours and reveals of unknown local hot spots.
Built for FOMO. Capture the most adventurous, appetizing and breathtaking moments in stories, photos and short video.
Where people get tips from friends and share detailed trip recaps. More resource than soundbite.
O&O
Functional and search-driven. Think how-to stories and popular keywords like “cities.”
Pacing
Keep it quick: 1–3 minutes is optimal. YouTube is the exception, where longer-form works.
Aspect ratio
1:1 for feeds. 16:9 for cinematic content and easy streaming on bigger screens.
Thumbnails
Use the most unusual feature as the still. If it’s the location, go aerial.
Feel
Make it eye-catching and immersive. People want a peek behind the curtain, or cave, if you will.
Always on
This trend works all year. People never stop daydreaming about vacation, and searches for travel content stay steady month to month.
Soft peaks
Interest ticks up from March–July and October–January, driven by cultural and seasonal moments.
