Mainstream destinations and activities are losing steam. Travelers under 35 want adventure and novelty: 82% travel mainly to see new cities or towns, and 73% travel to explore different parts of the world.

Friend-orsements go a long way.

80% of our users under 35 rely on internet research for new vacation ideas. (There’s a special place in our hearts for the 20% who still pick up a travel book.)

But 70% of people still rely on recommendations from “friends of friends who know someone who went to that remote island you just read about on Thrillist!”

34% of consumers admit to posting vacation photos just to show off where they went. People want to be seen as adventurous, creative and trendy on social.
